Grove Farm public space - A Riverine Landscape

erect architecture won a competition to design the main public space within the new Grove Farm residential development in Redbridge. We were particularly interested in exploring casually playable public space for all ages.
Grove Farm is in an area of former marshland. A culvert now runs directly below the area of our site.
Our new riverine landscape flows across the site bringing to life its history and the hidden flow of water below. The theme shapes a sculptural landscape and its features.
Two main components define the riverine landscape:
The central focal point is a landscape of water-play and drumlins.
A sculptural boardwalk landscape meanders through new marshland planting.
It offers opportunity for casual play, encounter and inhabitation.
